After seeing the Pemaquid Point lighthouse,... i thought that would probably be the high point of the day. Wrong.
Turned norht on hwy 32, rounded the cove and came to New Harbor, Maine. we'd seen Maine harbors...pleasure boats.... some mixed w/ fishing and lobster boats.... this was a real working , fishing harbor.
At Shaws pier was the 1st time to see the lobsterboats coming in w/ their catch. It's a real treat to buy lobster right off the boats as the come in. Shaws will steam them for you for $7 lb. , to go, or eat on their deck overlooking the harbor. Fresh Maine lobster is really good! Fried clams are not my favorite... but are good here.
