Black Brook Beach Canada Cape Breton Highlands

Talking Beach / Singing Beach

I've wanted to write this post / journal diary entry for some time... this was a place I can't forget. My mind comes back to this place at times.

Few places have registered such a geological phenomenon as here. I call it singing beach.

We're driving north, counter clockwise on the Cabot Loop.... the most beautiful drive in the Canadian Maritimes. We've seen the most picturesque places on the Cabot Trail of Nova Scotia. ... then we get here.

We're up past Inngonish now... stoped at some cliffs and saw seals in the cove below. The ocean off to the East is actually the Gulf of St lawrence.... this is the edge of the North Sea. Newfoundland is 80 miles Northeast of this place. ... Port aux Basques.... see those Newfoundland posts .

On up past Green Cove... beautiful rock cliffs . Ocean surf pounding on the rock cliff shoreline. Green grass cliffs ,Wonderful.

Weather changes quickly... from bright sun to fog and overcast in a couple miles.

Then we come to this place ; Black Brook Beach. looks like another cove, then get out and walk the stone beach. Rounded stones on the beach. ... there is no sand... just round, smooth rocks.

It's July and the wind is cool,... now blowing at 15 with gusts to 25+... directly inbound from the ocean makes the air have a chill.

The wind pushed so hard the surf waves are 3 to 4 feet. And when the surf hits and pounds on this rock beach,... when the surf goes out you can hear the rocks clacking together from the pull of the wieght of the surf. It sings / talks... of a clatter.... Pretty amazing.

Walking along I kept hearing this sound and wondered what this was. It's that unique that required some video to capture this.

The millenia of an erosion pattern has made this a unique cove. Glad to see this today!

Postcards for my buddy Pat. Glad to see you came through here. Postcards from Uncle Hargus Here at the Tracks of the StoneBear journey one of the cherished moments friends have is going out to the mailbox and and finding a postcard from Uncle Hargus. The art of letter writing is gone with this younger generation; they email or tweet or whatever. Nothing is better than getting a Postcard from a friend ! ALL of StoneBears friends Love to get a postcard from the journey. Nothing better speakes to a friend than to stop for a moment at the end of a day and share a few sacred moments... ?When was the last time you got something from a friend? ... that stopped during a day... and sent a message to you.... that says I'm thinking about you today while on a journey? Postcards are good. ?When was the last time you got a Postcard from a friend? maybe emails or tweets suffice for you. NOTHING is better than a Postcard from a friend. And as Uncle Hargus says... I'll see you on the beach,... or on the dark side of the moon. It's all about choices.

You never drink twice from the same stream.
