Blue Puttees 3 Crossing back
on board MV Blue Puttees ... underway on the North Sea
Port aux Basques, Newfoundland back to North Sydney, Nova Scotia - Cape Breton
Late afternoon / dusk onboard the Blue Puttees a last glimpse of somewhat of a sunset. Heading towards worse weather. The drizzle has picked up to a light rain in bands. Wind is 20 to 25+ gusts.... 50* feels cool, almost chili. Was glad to see the North Sea in the daytime... in calm seas.
Inside in the foredeck lounge, fore of the galley / mess hall / resturaunt... is some local Newfoundland / Nova Scotia/ Canadian Maritimes entertainment. I 've heard this maritimes music several times and it seems to hold to a grenre by it's rythym; Somewhat of an Irish / gaelic/ welsh type limerick pub rythym, ranging to odes / ballads of soft somber weepy sad tales of tragedy of the seas , or life on the seas / tides around the maritimes.
Some songs are jubilant almost like a fast polka. w/ the patrons clapping the rythym of the beat,... to sing alongs.... some is like festival music. Some are the ballads. It was neat to hear this. All the guests seemed to enjoy the entertainment while passing the time at sea. An accordian and a guitar-- for now... a Newfoundland Lounge Band... the guys had fun playing. It was a party! ... Well... it was festive. Not quite the same caliber party as a Tracks of the StoneBear bash -- like the legendary one the night that... Moose Dude and Uncle Hargus were college roommates and had a get together that got out of hand; that one. Keith Richards and Bob Marley came over about 3am and asked us if we could "Please hold it down".
Seeing Newfoundland was the thrill of a lifetime. I always wanted to see the edge of the world where the Vikings came into North America. Looking forward now for the next push / leg of this journey into Cape Breton .... driving the Cabot Trail Loop.
Weather got worse as we made port at North Sydney, Nova Scotia about 9pm.
This has been an interesting day... a good one for sure! Got several videos of today.
