New River Provencial Park New River, New Brunswick, Canada

Fog on the Bay of Fundy

We came into Canada at Calais -- pronounced Cal - ayse --... NOT Cal- sis like Americans speak. Headed up the Southern coast of New Brunswick... on The Bay of Fundy. Stopped at St Andrews -- also see St Andrews post when done... I'll get to it eventually.

Driving up the coast in sunshine... all is well... wind in my face seeing what's around the next bend ; the way life is to be lived. We'll try to make camp at New River, NB. Mid to late afternoon... sunny, then our introduction into the Canadian Maritimes ; FOG. Driving along in bright 74* sunshine then Bam! ... Fog and temperature drops 30* to 42* ... thick fog and visability of 200 yards.

Off and on fog banks as we come to New River, new Brunswick. We;ll find the Provincial Park -- like a state park-- to camp tonight.

After securing a campsite head down to the beach 1/4 mile away. Beautiful fog ! The tide is out and we walk the beach. Ripples in the sand. A good place to beachcomb... not many tourists here. T-bird finds beach glass... broken glass on the beach that has been smoothed from the surf erosion. T=bird collects beach glass so this is a good spot.

Some sandstone cliffs and rocks line the beach... amid the fog... really beautiful. On up the Bay of Fundy the beachs turn to mud. Orange/ red mud... that you sink up to your knees in orange mud.... so this is good here. Good shells as this beach is not walked much.

Back to camp for supper of steak and sugar snap peas... then disaster. My camera chip was overloaded -- had not re- formatted and lost the days pix. So re-formatted and went back for more pix. RE-FORMAT your chip occasionally. a hard lesson to learn. A good stop. A good beach for fog pix.
