Skyline Drive Shenandoah National Park Front Royal, Virginia

Wide Wide World of Bears

Travelin' south, heading back home to Birmingham / Leeds, Alabama will take about another week. Travelin' South today.

Yesterday got off that god awful traffic I- 81s to wind down through Shenadoah. This is where a journey gets good.

Not neccessarily the place, but the freedom to wander.

Just because you wander doesn't mean your lost.

Skyline Drive is the northernmost leg of the Blueridge parkway -- same road-- this is just the northern part that was sectioned off for Shenadoah National Park.

And I like this one better as it's more pristene wilderness than the Blueridge pkway. -- Also see Blueridge Parkway post when done-- (Blueridge pkwy, although very beautiful in places... is a "Right of Way" and in places there are homes w/ above ground pools 300' from the roadway)

The Ridges and valleys of the Appalachians running through this part of Western Virginia is known as Shenadoah.

Scenic, geography, and past history... a very remarkable place.

A wonderful drive!

If there's one thing Tracks of the StoneBear is about... it's family.

And was fortunate enough today to drop in and see some family; brother and nephews. It's a Bear world after all.
