Sunrise at Cambobello
Sunrise at Campobello was a sixties film about FDR finding his resolve to overcome a severe physical handicap; polio.
At Lubec , Maine.... across the harbor is Campobello island. FDR bridge. I can't speak of the inspiration of the place... but Lubec is is a picturesque place and sunrise nearby was pretty good. .... the sun coming up on the 1st easternmost city in the US.
The town is several blocks along the harbor... the other side of Passamoquaddy Bay is Canada / Campobello Island. there's a bridge -- FDR bridge -- over to the island, you enter into Canada. This is the beginning of the Bay of Fundy... up into New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
We're close to / at the jumping off place of going up into the Canadian Maritimes... ... this is what we came to see. we're close here.
Lubec harbor has some tour boats. Some of a working / fishing harbor from what is there. It's an old fishing village/ town; i'm sure there are fishermen here from way back. Some of the buildings are of old boatbuilding and canneries. ... an old cannery smokehouse for herring in the 20's. . Life ruled by the tides!
Lunch at a local cafe overlooking Passamoquaddy bay; good. The chowder... -- chow-dah ; excellent. Fog coming in and out of the bay at times with warm/ cold winds alternating in the salt air. It's July and you need a jacket. Across the bay, a lighthouse on Campobello Island. On over across the bay... St Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada.
A neat downtown / village. Lubec, Maine is THE Easternmost city in the USA. This is the edge of the United States.
